Affiliate Links
If you participate in Affiliate Programs and advertise sites or products on your blog it’s highly recommended that you manually add rel=”nofollow” on all your affiliate links or use the “Pretty Link” plugin which is available for you to use. Simply login to your Blog Admin page, click on Plugins and activate Pretty Link. After the plug-in has been activated you will need to update the Link Option defaults. Click on “Pretty Link”, “Options” and look for the option called “Add nofollow to Link” and make sure it’s selected.
Importing a Blog (Blogger, WordPress, Live Journal)
You can import your old or existing blog to Best Male Diaries if it’s hosted on Blogger, WordPress, Live Journal or TypePad. Login to your Blog Admin page and go to “Tools”, “Import” and select your old Blogs format. Unfortunately it won’t always work but in most cases it should at least be possible to import all your old blog posts.
Google Sitemaps
Your blog will automatically have a sitemap file generated. The feed contains your front page, all posts and pages but excludes category, tag and other dynamic archive pages.
Your feed can be found at (replace “myblogname” with the name of your blog):
http://myblogname.bestmalediaries.com/sitemap.xml
If you want to submit your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools (recommended) you will need to verify your site with a “Google Verification Meta Tag”. When you have retrieved this tag from Google Webmaster Tools you need enter it on your Blog Admin Page under “Settings” and “FV All in One SEO Pack”, click on “Advanced Options” were at the bottom you will find a box to enter the Verifcation Tag.
Google Analytics
You can track and collect statistics for your blog by using Google Analytics, simply sign-up for an account then enter you Tracking Code on your Admin Page under “Settings” and “Google Analytics”.
SEO Settings
Your blog comes with a pre-installed plug-in which improves your blogs SEO (search engine optimization). The plugin comes with several extra settings and options which you need to update to fully make use of it.
Login to your Blog Admin Page, go to “Settings” and “FV All in One SEO Pack”. Update the different settings that you would like to use, click on “Advanced Options” for more customization.
Themes
There is a large amount of different WordPress themes available for you to use. Including some “recommended” themes which have more features and customization options available, these are labelled as “Pro” under Themes in your Admin Page. They are: Photography, Vigilance, Titan, Traction and Paperpunch (All premium themes designed by Theme Foundry).
If you cannot find a suitable theme and found one you would like to use instead, we might be able to install it for you. Please contact us and include the location (URL) of the theme you would like to use. It needs to be compatible with Word Press 3.0+. You can find many different themes at WordPress.org.
Plug-ins
Due to the nature of free blog hosting and how it’s setup, the majority of plugins have been disabled. However if you found a plug-in you would like to use, we might be able to install it for you. Plug-ins needs to be compatible with WordPress 3.0+ (with network / MU enabled) Please contact us and include the location of the plug-in (URL) and a brief description of why you need it. Please note, All plug-ins must be activated before you can use them. Go to “Admin Page” and “Plugins”, this shows you a list of all available plug-ins, click on “Activate” beside the ones you would like to use.
Comment Spam
There is already spam prevention installed for comments on your blog. However if it fails to prevent spam there are further options available to you including switching off all comments. Simply go to your Blog Admin page, click on “settings” and “discussion”. There are several options available, adjust as needed.
